Sevendust

A new label and crunchy guitars from newcomer Sonny Mayo, but a reversal in direction as the softness of 2003's Seasons is rejected in favor of the aggression that characterized 1999's Home and 2001's Animosity. Acoustic flourishes offer cracks in the cloud -- lead single "Ugly" is actually quite pretty -- but otherwise the outlook's dark and bleak.
