Sister Sledge

  • Genre: Disco
  • Hometown: Philidelphia

About

Although they'd had some minor success previously, this family unit came to prominence in the disco era, thanks to the production savvy of Chic's Nile Rodgers and Bernard Edwards. Upon its release in 1979, "We Are Family" zoomed to number one on the R&B charts and peaked at number two on the pop charts. Although the sisters continue to release albums and do the odd tour, they've never matched the success they achieved at the height of the disco era.
