Veteran Texas Blues guitarist Kubek and singer B'Nois King have forged a unique sound in a crowded field. Kubek is a fiery guitarist who easily lives up to the Texas reputation for incendiary playing. King, rather than trying to outdo the guitar with vocal pyrotechnics, goes for a much smoother and subtler approach. He almost croons with his resonant tenor vocals, projecting an unflappable coolness. The resulting combination of contrasting styles adds up to something more than the sum of its parts.
