It's hard enough not to like Smoosh's giddy, girly spunk-pop -- the songwriting is as fun and bright as a summertime skip through the sprinklers. Then you hear that fab musos like Eddie Vedder, Death Cab for Cutie and Cat Power are fans, and the cred factor hikes up another notch. When you learn that the two sisters in Smoosh -- Chloe on drums and Asya on keys and vocals -- are 11 and 13 years old, you're sold forevermore. But this ain't no kiddie gimmick -- what started out as drum lessons for Chloe (from Death Cab drummer Jason McGerr) and rainy day piano noodling for Asya has jelled into a truly remarkable indie rock phenomenon, one that's refined and complex, but by no means grown-up.
