One of the more exciting groups to emerge from the efflorescence of Irish Folk acts during the 1990s. Solas play traditional Celtic music (the lyrics themselves are often in Gaelic) on decidedly nontraditional instruments like bouzouki, banjo, and African drums. Their music steers clear, however, of the soupy multiculturalism of some World Music, maintaining its distinct flavors of the Irish tradition.
