A decidedly non-conformist emcee who's been alternately praised and attacked by the hip-hop community, Sole is also the H.N.I.C. at Anticon, a coalition of envelope pushing, genre bending DJs, producers, and lyricists. Originally from Maine, Sole got his start in a group called the Last Poets and moved around before settling in the Bay Area. After a much-publicized beef with El-P, he began building the Anticon empire, recruiting co-conspirators like Dose, Jel, Sixtoo, and DJ Mayonnaise into the fold. Prolific in their output, the camp's unique beatscapes and hyper-original, prose-heavy rhymes found a supportive and dedicated fanbase, and much love from fans and press worldwide. As a solo act, Sole has released various singles and tapes, as well as the full-lengths Bottle Of Humans and Learning To Walk. He is also a member of Deep Puddle Dynamics and So-Called Artists.
