Besides the fact that Bob Dylan, Dave Van Ronk and Fred Neil were probably in the audience for this 1965 date at the legendary Gaslight folk club in N.Y.C., the document features one of the true masters of Delta blues giving a riveting lesson in conjuring the ghosts of an ancient craft. Son House's deep, half-mumbling/half-threatening voice is just awesome.
