On their seventh album, Sunn's main duo continues to work with vocalist Attila Csihar and guitarist Oren Ambarchi, but the addition of brass, string and woodwind instrumentation under composer Eyvind Kang add profound Dimensions. The fuzzy tones that define Sunn's sound are more textured and tangible with Kang's touch, creating a sonic fog that moves from dark and foreboding to serene. From the ominous spoken-word "Agartha" to the 16-minute ode to Alice Coltrane, the changes and nuances are elegantly understated while the moods reach a broad spectrum.
