Released a year after 1992's Voices In The Wind, Suzy Bogguss' Something Up My Sleeve is much more consistent in song quality - there's nary a hint of filler here. "Souvenirs" unfolds a narrative touching on the heartbreak of an American patriot who has to watch her country succumb to globalization and omnipresent corporate branding and the title track's air of desperation and melancholy resonates with human yearning that's so authentic, you just might not notice the cold, dated early '90s production.
