Television Personalities' cheeky debut established the blueprint for twee and indie pop, while the group's 1982 follow-up, Mummy Your Not Watching Me, laid the groundwork for shoegaze, neo-psychedelia and Brit pop. Crank "David Hockney's Diaries" and listen to the way main man Dan Treacy filters the Kinks through dub-inspired echo and an uber-thick wall of fuzz. Obviously everybody from the Jesus and Mary Chain to Oasis and Spacemen 3 spent serious time digging this classic album.
