All Night Flight consists of a single 40-minute-long track. If you think that's wild, chew on this: it's but a tiny excerpt from a six-hour performance Riley undertook in spring 1968. This is heavy-duty Eastern-inspired minimalism: thick, gooey and utterly psychedelic. Riley's ensemble gradually locks into his "Time Lag Accumulator" aesthetic, which soaks the listener's brain in some kind of hall-of-mirrors effect. It's difficult to imagine a group of musicians even making this music.
