The Backyardigans

This may be a kid's show soundtrack, but anybody who knows music will be truly impressed by the range and versatility of these songs. Everything from jump blues to Cuban son gets a shout-out; "Shake Your Body" is a particularly adorable G-rated disco anthem, and "Rad Moves" actually calls on Afrobeat -- yes, think Fela Kuti -- for inspiration. And given that the show encourages kids to develop their imaginations, you absolutely cannot go wrong here.
