The Cliks

The Cliks present an interesting conundrum. On one hand, they are a really freaking good band, and one could find plenty to say just about their ballsy power-rock, chunky guitars, the full-throttle opulence of Lucas Silveira's vocals and their flat-out fantastic cover of Justin Timberlake's "Cry Me a River." On the other, Silveira is transgendered (female-to-male) and leads a queer, all-female band. Does that change how good they are? No. Does mentioning it pigeonhole them as a "gay band" (whatever that means)? Maybe. Does knowing that fact add layers of meaning to their JT cover? Definitely.
