The Flaming Lips

The Flaming Lips prove their nuttiness once again with Christmas on Mars, a feature film written and directed by frontman Wayne Coyne. The song titles provide a peek into what the picture holds in store (there are, in fact, marching genitalia on screen), while the music reflects the extraterrestrial setting. This all-instrumental bender flows with swelling symphonic trimmings, fluttering electro glitches, jazzy interludes, marching band beats, saintly choir hums and twinkling crescendos. It's the Grinch meets The Nightmare Before Christmas ... on acid ... without gravity.
