The Greenhornes

About

Even though they weren't technically from the Motor City, Cincinnati's Greenhornes were one of the most impressive bands of the late '90s garage revival often associated with Detroit. Led by singer guitarist Craig Fox, the band formed in 1996, though the line up varied for some years, the permanent rhythm included bassist Jack Lawrence and drummer Patrick Keelerat and side players included guitarist Brian Olive, organist Jared McKinney, and guitarist and vocalist Eric Stein. Starting with 1999's Gun For You, the band produced a number of indie releases and toured widely. By 2003, membership had diminished to a power trio of Fox, Lawrence, and Keeler, who issued East Grand Blues on V2 Records, which was produced by Brendan Benson in 2005. Keeler and Lawrence have done some impressive moonlighting with members of the White Stripes and Loretta Lynn.
