The Jesus Lizard

About

The sound of the Jesus Lizard will always be associated with loud, up front, borderline obnoxious, intimidating rock 'n' roll. Though often primitive in approach -- they were a trio and a drum-machine on their first release -- the Jesus Lizard has always followed the whims of its infamous front man David Yow. Starting their assault on the rock world with the 1989 Pure EP, the band found its voice with '91s Goat LP. It was on this release that the band slipped on its dirty overcoat and took their cause directly to the people. Their stripped-down, angular rock is defiantly anti-pop, and their raucous, bawdy live shows are legendary. The Jesus Lizard signed to Capitol (after 6 years on Indie label Touch and Go) for '96s Shot and '98s Blue.
