The Meatmen

If Archie Bunker played in a punk band, it would've been called the Meatmen. Ringleader Tesco Vee was one of hardcore's greatest agents provocateurs during the '80s, and while musically his band's songs were run-of-the-mill three-chord fodder, their very un-PC content -- featuring themes of anti-homosexuality ("Tooling for Anus"), anti-feminism ("I'm Glad I'm Not a Girl"), murder ("1 Down 3 to Go") and incest ("Becoming a Man") -- set them very much apart in the socially aware punk scene. But don't take them too seriously: It's all done with tongue firmly placed in cheek.
