The Music

About

With a shove from the British music press, The Music were aimed to boot Oasis and former rock potentates The Stone Roses off their rock thrones before their first self-titled CD hit the stores in 2002. Formed in 1999 while still in their teens, and attending high school in Leeds, band members Rob Harvey (vocals), Phil Jordan (drums), Adam Nutter (guitar) and Stuart Coleman (bass) quit their studies and released their debut single Take the Long Road and Walk It on the independent label Fierce Panda in 2001. Shortly thereafter, an EP You May As Well Try to F*&k Me resulted in an avalanche of musical hype, rocketing their debut album to the top of the UK and International charts. However, like many British rising (and falling) stars before them, the Music has yet to crack the red, white and blue record buying audience. They continue on their quest to conquer both sides of the pond with their follow-up punch Welcome to the North, along with recent tours opening for more successful exports, Coldplay and U.S. alt metal chart toppers, Incubus. The Music followed their first single "Freedom Fighters," with "Breakin'," a catchy vocal yelp that merges perfectly with a bevy of effect boxes in the same vein as early Jane's Addiction. While the title of their new CD beckons their northern England homeland, The Music's ambition reaches well beyond the British shores.
