The Raveonettes

To write off the Raveonettes as a Jesus and Mary Chain tribute is a disservice. The Reid brothers didn't copyright the concept of heavily distorted '50s rock 'n' roll, and this Danish duo serves up honeyed confection with a sunnier outlook. Lust Lust Lust might be a sweeter, less revelatory Psychocandy, but, as a confessional from members Sharin Foo and Sune Rose Wagner, it's more emotionally immediate. "Hallucinations" is a shimmering feedback-frenzy about falling in and out of love, and "Blush" runs a Buddy Holly-style heartbreak song through a distortion pedal.
