The perfectly scruff, seemingly adrift sound of the Shore originates out of Los Angeles, where the quartet first came together. Built around the songs of singer Ben Ashley, the group's sun-bleached, frayed pop takes its cues from the best of the epic British rock bands of the 1990s, with a more traditional rock sound thrown to balance the whole thing out. A song like "The Hard Road" gets more than just a hint of inspiration from the sweeping sound of the Verve, but it's a great starting point, and the song itself (like a lot of their material) is rock solid.
