The Sundays

After an extended parenthood break, Harriet Wheeler & David Gavurin returned with another winning album of bittersweet, pastoral guitar pop. "Summertime," deservedly became a hit on both sides of the Atlantic and, like tracks such as "Leave This City" and "I Can't Wait," it shows how the Sundays keep refining their original "sound of emotional yearning" approach.

Since the Sundays' previous record, 1992's Blind, songwriters David Gavurin and Harriet
Wheeler have hatched a recording studio and a baby. The young'un running around the
mixing board hasn't changed their sound on Static and Silence, though; Gavurin's airy
