Rhapsody

It's impossible not to adore Glen Hansard and Marketa Irglova. They worked together, fell in love, won an Oscar, broke up and still came out as sweet and sincere as they began. A sort of diary of their fading romance, Strict Joy is not simply a reflection of the duo's heartbreak, it is their heartbreak. Hansard's visceral cries reveal him as the eternal romantic; Irglova's softening coos reveal her as the rational shoulder to cry on. Loyal friends the Frames provide support -- enhancing the mood with violins, horns and drums. Beware: Your heart may break right along with theirs.
