The Temptations have a good time covering classics by Barry White, the Staple Singers, the Doobie Brothers and others. The fun is definitely contagious, especially when the famed vocal group steps away from the original hits and lets its own style fly. Covers albums often serve to underline great songwriting outside of a single performance, and Back to Front is no exception. The Temptations show the classic soul balladry at the root of the Bee Gees' "How Deep Is Your Love" and illustrate how the angry, yet hopeful, protest at the heart of "Wake Up Everybody" is still as relevant as ever.
