The Used

The Used settle into their role as leaders of the mainstream screamo movement, delivering an ambitious ass-kick of album, their third since forming in Utah in the mid-1990s. Blistering metal riffs, augmented by occasional new-wave synthesizers and even strings, make for a set of songs seemingly packed to the gills with studio tricks. Bert McCracken's shriek-prone vocals drive the action. Lead single "The Bird and the Worm" may be the most far-out, anguished song on MTV in 2007.
