Moving to L.A. and reconnecting with producer Steve Albini, David Gedge now gets to buttress his wry, witty lyrics against such iconic subjects as "Santa Ana Winds," "Palisades" and "Model, Actress, Whatever." But affairs of the heart are never hemmed by geography. Gedge's songs are still rife with tales of romance, deception, heartbreak and hope that the good times will last. The band rocks his crafty pop melodies and bittersweet lyrics hard, going for a robust yet beautifully detailed guitar sound. However the sunshine is treating Gedge's personal life, his craft remains in fine form.
