The Whigs

Unpretentious yet never predictable, the Whigs' sophomore album retains everything appealing about their debut without sounding like a rehash. The tempos are a little more varied, and the interplay between the bass, guitar and drums a little more sophisticated, but these are not marks of growth so much as commitment to their sound. And a damn fine sound it is.

Since ATO picked up their self-released Give 'Em All a Big Fat Lip in 2006, this Georgia trio
has picked up enough gushing band comparisons to fill a whole review — thirty years'
