The Who

Each member of the Who wrote a few songs for their second album. The experiment yielded a few worthwhile numbers, but it mostly created an album of filler; Quick One sputters in its inconsistency. It does have its moments, especially on songs such as "Boris the Spider" and Townsend's first mini-opus, "A Quick One While He's Away."

The Who weren't always a nostalgia act or merely makers of pleasant Broadway fodder.
Their tough, early tracks are a key punk resource, so it hardly matters that they were
forever doomed to third place behind the Beatles and the Stones in the British-pop
