Thin Lizzy

Thin Lizzy's bones are bare: guitarist Brian Robertson's broken hand nixed the band's twin-lead approach for much of Bad Reputation. Nevertheless, Phil Lynott's muse is at peak performance. B.R. is better than the previous LP, Johnny the Fox, and nearly as good as their masterpiece, Jailbreak. It rocks and rolls with heavy numbers like "Opium Trail," but also has some classic pub fare: "Dancing in the Moonlight." Dig that sexy sax making its way through the middle of a big-city night.

Like the good-bad characters in its songs, Thin Lizzy is no better than it should be. Catering
to the moderate-hard-rock mainstream, the band's music has changed remarkably little
over the last five albums: a scrappy, often insouciant blend of cantering melodies,
