Toots Hibbert's days of releasing albums that are drop-dead brilliant from start to finish are over. But who needs to be brilliant? When you're as good as Toots, you can release a mish-mash of covers, remakes and originals and still leave most contemporary musicians sounding pretty pale and soulless in comparison. Equal parts bar-band vamp and free-form blues/reggae/rock, Light Your Light allows Toots the freedom to do exactly what he wants, in this order: duet with Bonnie Raitt, pay homage to Otis Redding and finally leave an inspirational message for the kids at the very end.
