Seattle's Truckasauras take their schlock seriously, as you can tell by the video footage accompanying their live sets -- hodgepodges of pro-wrestler theatrics, soaring eagles and monster trucks. But there's something earnest about their minimalist, 8-bit electro that makes you wonder if these guys aren't more serious than you think -- just maybe, they've come to save America from itself. (What else would you expect from a group that takes its name from a Simpsons episode?) Using a lean setup of vintage drum machines, Commodore-chip synths and GameBoy controllers, they serve up twitchy, hip-hop inspired beats and bleepy melodies that flash like a Lite-Brite on the fritz.
