A founding member of San Francisco's notorious Phunckateck crew, UFO!'s combination of advanced breakbeat science, Tech-Step aggression, and cyberpunk imagery have given his tracks a frightening, lethal potency that's taken the Drum 'n' Bass world by storm. As his beats move from dark, sinister complexity to raging, vitriolic torrents, partially intelligible dialogues keep up a constant drone in the background, calling out instructions, code names, and numbers. It's like dropping into a scene from a William Gibson novel: unidentifiable machines give out piercing Industrial sounds, engines start and stop, red alert signals blare, and radio static hisses. All the while, the beats pound forward as relentlessly as armored tanks, just as UFO! himself has pushed forward the margins of Drum 'n' Bass in the late 1990s.
