Ustad Ali Akbar Khan

About

Ali Akbar Khan is one of the most decorated Indian classical musicians of the twentieth century -- and deservedly so. Son of sarod master Allaudin, Khan began studying music at the tender age of three. Decades later he's won five Grammys, won a MacArthur genius grant, and established music schools around the globe. His playing ain't so bad, either. He's scored a heaping handful of films (or appeared on soundtracks) and helped many western listeners get up to speed with Indian music. What else can we say? The man's a legend -- give him a listen.
