Utah Saints

About

Jez Willis and Tim Garbutt jumped into the charts in the early '90s as Utah Saints. Pumping out unforgettable Disco anthems with glossy samples and rippling, barnstorming House beats, they sculpt blissful tracks with perfect vocal samples (from Kate Bush, Kiss and Annie Lennox, among others). Brash synthetic guitar riffs make the tracks a little edgy as they slide through progressions that leave you breathless. The Utah Saints have grown more complex and mature, foregoing the dance floor-commanding presence of their younger days for subdued beats that sneak up on you, glittering like a sequined ball gown. Later arrangements share characteristics with '70s Disco or late '80s Industrial rather than House, though the infectious melodies of their earlier days are ever-present.
