R&B is one of the strongest influences reflected in Van Morrison's music. Bang Masters represents the work a young Morrison recorded for Bang back in 1967, showing Van at his most soulful. Working versions of "Madame George" and "Beside You" are included and would later be two of the highlights on the seminal Astral Weeks.
