Vetiver

Vetiver gather some of their favorite deep cuts dug up from record store nooks and thrift shop crannies for this collection of covers. Choosing material that suits their down-home twang, hammock-swaying rock and languid sensibility, the San Francisco group recreates tracks by folksters including Townes Van Zandt, Loudon Wainwright III and Michael Hurley, who even helps cover his own song ("Blue Driver"). Vetiver give the originals their due credit while adding their own breezy take on Americana ("Hook & Ladder"), minimal pop ("To Baby") and piano balladry ("Lon Chaney").
