Vishwa Mohan Bhatt

About

Perhaps best known to western audiences for his Grammy-winning 1994 collaboration with Ry Cooder, A Meeting By the River, V.M. Bhatt is not just a classical Indian musician -- he actually created his own instrument, the Mohan Veena. The Mohan Veena is a 19-stringed hybrid slide guitar inspired by Hawaiian guitar and played lap-style. Justly recognized as a technical master, Bhatt is perhaps the most celebrated of Ravi Shankar's disciples, and he has won numerous awards and toured the world.
