Voice of the Seven Woods

Voice of the Seven Woods shares psychic space with the music of Rick Tomlinson's contemporary, London-based guitarist James Blackshaw. Both men show gratitude for the guitar work of John Renbourn and Bert Jansch, not to mention a penchant for the compositional fusions that the British elders created in their iconoclastic folk group, the Pentangle. Whereas Blackshaw wanders into elaborate, 30-minute orchestrations, Tomlinson mates ethnic elements with traditional folk guitar, crafting tightly coiled songs that are by turns meditative and psychedelic.
