Wallmen

About

New York's act have been recording since the mid-'80s, carving out a severely Punk-influenced slab of energized rock with each successive release. Upon first listen, the Wallmen's music may appear to be from your typical sludge-dishing group of groaners, but their sound is a quirkier, layered sound characterized by the singularly-named vocalist Norm's falsetto breaks and the band's occasionally empowering, usually invigorating blend of Punk/art pop. Given they have Mercury Rev cohort Dave Fridmann behind the knobs on their release Electronic Home Entertainment System, it's no wonder the following quote from their bio is not far from the truth: "The Beach Boys shot up with LSD and sent on a scavenger hunt in Disneyland."

- Jon Pruett
