That said, Waylon Forever is an eight-song collection of demos recorded in 1995 with his son Shooter, who apparently made his dad eat his Wheaties before entering the studio. Waylon sounds amazing, hitting all the notes with absolute authority, while Shooter's band adds an array of modern effects. Crank "Outlaw Sh*t" and dig the ambient feedback lurking just beneath the heaving orchestration. Very Wilco, very cool.
