These are the only two piano quartets that Mozart composed. He wasn't commissioned to write more because of poor sales; the music was far too advanced for the mainstream. Emmanuel Ax removes the issue of technical proficiency and dives into the E-flat major with bright enthusiasm -- just listen to the third movement -- and the G-minor is a little heavier and more introspective.
