Wrnlrd is a one-man black metal band hailing from Virginia. Part of a small but vital American black metal scene that arose in the '00s along with similar one-man acts Xasthur and Leviathan on the West Coast, Wrnlrd's music ranges from the traditional blown-out lo-fi aesthetics Norwegian bands such as Darkthrone and Burzum pioneered to highly ornate and meticulously recorded dirge metal echoing the early work of My Dying Bride. Since the first Wrnlrd release (a live CD-R) appeared in 2006, four full-lengths have turned up, reputed to be the beginning stages of what will be a nine-part series of albums.
