Rhapsody

For his Blue Note debut, Marsalis forgets about genre experimentation and lays out an alternately tough and tender batch of hard bop originals before taking off into outer space on the witty title track. Dianne Reeves offers salty guest vocals on "The Feeling of Jazz" (not the famed Duke Ellington/Bobby Troup number), while Bobby McFerrin goes retro on "Baby, I Love You."
