Ziggy Marley's particular brand of reggae has had a few moments in the pop-music sun, but it's never carried much weight among roots reggae purists. On Family Time, he may have found an ideal outlet for his talent. These songs -- performed with an almost shocking array of major musicians ranging from various Marleys to Willie Nelson and Jack Johnson -- strike a gentle balance between being "family friendly" and actually enjoyable to adults as well. Marley never talks down to his intended audience, and the consistently positive messages serve his family's legacy well.
